For Consumers

Why Use a National Home Inspector™:  Our members are who they claim to be!  Every member undergoes a background review and evaluation of their credentials and training, which is based on Canada’s NEW GOLD STANDARD for inspectors practicing anywhere in Canada.  This is all part of the rigor involved in becoming a National Home Inspector™.  One of the most important purchases that Canadians will make in their life time is the purchase of a home.  This process involves many specialists, one of whom is a professional PHPI home & property inspector.

From arranging financing and insurance, hiring a real estate agent, choosing a lawyer and finding the right home in the right neighborhood; it's easy for potential homebuyers to feel overwhelmed by all the decisions that go into the home-buying process.  Who can you trust to help guide you through this complex process and what can you expect?

Few things in life come with a guarantee, however the commitment that PHPIC members make to their clients is that they will 'uphold the highest standards and conduct a thorough, unbiased and honest evaluation of their perspective home'.  It's another demonstration of professionalism and ethical commitment PHPIC inspectors make to their clients.  You can feel confident about the decision to choose a PHPIC PHPI (Professional Home and Property Inspector).

With the exception of British Columbia the home inspection profession in Canada is an unregulated industry, but that doesn't mean the choice of a home & property inspector has to be a difficult one.  By choosing a professional inspector who is a National Home Inspector™ and carries the PHPI designation, you can rest assured you will receive a comprehensive analysis of the home/property's major systems and components from an objective and independent professional, with only the homebuyers best interests in mind.  In becoming a PHPI/National Home Inspector™, candidates must demonstrate rigorous technical proficiency and report writing skills to the critria set by the National Home Inspector Program and commit to continuing education.

PHPI/National Home Inspector™ are committed to conducting inspections in accordance with the PHPIC Standards of Practice committed to abiding by the PHPIC Code of Ethics and are dedicated to providing superior customer service.

Home buyers are not the only people who hire National Home Inspector™ inspectors.  Home sellers also use National Home Inspector™ inspectors to gain knowledge of the condition of their home before placing it on the market.  Smart home sellers know that knowledge about their home's condition makes the selling process more realistic.  Homebuyers, home sellers, homeowners, or anyone who wants to make an informed decision about a house or property based on objective information deserve a professional home inspector.

The National Initiative through the National Occupational Standards has established the most widely recognized standard of quality for home inspectors nationwide.  A National Home Inspector™ inspector will examine the home's major systems including:
          • Electrical
          • Plumbing
          • Heating/Air Conditioning
          • Roofing
          • Structure
          • Insulation
          • Interior & Exterior

The PHPI National Home Inspector™ inspector will not make the buying decision. The PHPI National Home Inspector™ inspector will provide you with the information you need to help make that decision wisely.
